Due to its proximity to Cyprus, Anemurium, which was an intermediate station during the Roman period, was connected by road to Germaniopolis, one of the important Roman cities. It became an important trading city in which natural resources were exported. The important structures of the city that survived at this time are also from this period. This bright period of the city It came to an end in 260 with the Persian armies. Anemurium was later acquired by the Isaurians in the 5th century. The city gained prosperity during the Isaurian Zenon period, which lasted until the 6th century. Along with the churches of this period, there are two remains of small baths. The city, which was subjected to Arab raids in the 7th century, was completely abandoned after this date.

While the blue limestone of the region was used in the construction of 1.5 km long city walls, white stone was used in the observation towers of the Hellenistic Period. To the north of the Odeon, there are no traces of the slope-based seats of the theater, but some of the surrounding walls are visible. It has two entrances. The entrances are supported by arches and vaults. Opposite the theater, the odeon has a rectangular plan and two entrances. Semicircular seats are approximately 900 seats.
