Day 4- Madinah to AlUla via Visiting Khaybar
The spiritually uplifting and acoustic call to dawn prayer will captivate and enchant you. You will witness tens of thousands of people flocking to the mosque, experiencing this divine love firsthand with your own eyes and heart. After immersing yourself in this magical atmosphere, you’ll enjoy breakfast at your hotel before we pack our bags and depart.
Normally specially in high summer May-June-July-August and September, the people rest and sleep in day times and live the life at nights to enjoy the cooler temperatures. Our first stop is Khaybar (150 km from Madinah, ~2 hours drive). The roads are well-maintained, with clear signage. This stretch crosses the Hijaz Mountains, transitioning into a more desert landscape. Along the roadtrip, we will be enjoying the Khaybar Vista, a complete scenic viewpoint near the town to appreciate the region’s heritage and desert landscape.
Khaybar is a historic oasis, known for its ancient Jewish community and its conquest by Prophet Muhammad ( peace be upon him – saw) in 629 AD. It features date palm groves, ancient dams, and the “Masada of Arabia” atop the “Mountain of the Jews.”
We will be seeing Khaybar Fort and Old Town: Note that as of April 2024, the fort and old town were closed for renovation by the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU). If closed, you can still view the oasis and surrounding date palms from the road.
Old Jewish Dam: A historic site worth a quick stop for its ancient water management structures, though it may be partially disrupted.
